About Bob Ross, your Instructor
Since 1981, Bob Ross has been teaching his acclaimed painting techniques to television viewers from all walks of life through the acclaimed PBS series Joy of Painting. Bob's philosophy has been that painting is not just for the chosen few - it is for everyone. All you need is the desire to make beautiful things happen on canvas. With Bob's fantastic Wet-on-Wet technique and a little dedicated practice, masterpieces that you never dreamed possible will flow from your brush.

This course is divided into four lessons. Each will guide you through the techniques and the tools necessary to implement those techniques. There is a high bandwidth version for those of you with fast Internet connections (DSL, Cable Modem, T1, etc.) that has lots of video, and a low bandwidth version for those of you with dial-up (56K modem) connections using graphics, photos and Bob's audio explaining everything.

Lesson 1: SKIES - How many ways are there to paint the sky? See what Bob has in store for you. He'll cover everything from the sunniest sunset to the bluest sky to skies that will make you want to pull out your umbrella. This is where you will learn everything about what goes into a great sky. Observe the steps to painting a basic sky background and practice each of the painting techniques required. View the painting materials necessary to complete this lesson. Hear or see Bob as he guides you step-by-step.

Lesson 2: TREES - So many trees, so little time. This is the definitive place for learning all about painting trees. Bob will teach you how to paint lonely seaside trees and lush dense forests. Bob provides step by step instructions on how to paint the most beautiful trees possible. This is a lesson not to be missed! Learn the steps to painting several different kinds of foundational branches on an evergreen tree and practice each of these painting techniques. Master the steps to adding trunks and highlights to evergreen trees and, again, to practice these painting techniques.

Lesson 3: MOUNTAINS - Bob Ross mountains may look complex but following the easy techniques in this lesson you will be will be able to paint fabulous mountains before you know it. Everything from distant, out-of-focus mountains to close, in-your-face sheer drop-offs will be covered in this lesson. You'll also learn how to depict the desolate world of the glacier. Observe the steps to painting the preliminary foundation of a snow covered mountain and to practice each of the painting techniques required. Learn the steps to laying in the highlights, shadows, and a finished base that will add dimension to your mountain.

Lesson 4: WATER - A shimmering lake with delicate reflections, a flowing mountain stream, Bob has techniques that will have you paiting these like a pro. Master the steps to painting water with basic landscape reflections and practice each of the painting techniques required. Learn how to develop details in the water's edge, in water lines and ripples, and to practice these painting techniques.
