About Angela, your Instructor
Angela Overy grew up in England drawing flowers. A graduate of St. Martins School of Art, she worked as an advertising graphic designer in London and New York. Angela and her husband live in the Rocky Mountain foothills, where their garden has appeared on the cover of Fine Gardening magazine. The surrounding Colorado wildflowers, gardens, and her worldwide travels have provided much of the inspiration for her artwork, writing and photography. Angela is the founder of the Denver Botanic Gardens School of Botanic Illustration where she taught for years.

Author of many articles, and garden editor of Mountain Living magazine, she has also authored two books, 'The Foliage Garden', Harmony/Crown 1993, a Garden Book Club Selection, and the widely acclaimed, award winning book, 'Sex in Your Garden,' Fulcrum Publishing 1997. This author travels from coast to coast giving lively and amusing lectures on the three way relationships between plants, their pollinators and people.

Lesson Contents

Sex In Your Garden is divided into three separate Lessons. In Lesson 1, Angela discusses and demonstrates how pollination works for various plants and flowers. There's a discussion of plant anatomy, with lot's of examples. Also, there's a fun anatomy game where you can interactively test what you've learned. Another topic includes plant sexual orientation and and you can use what you've learned in this lesson in your own garden

Lesson 2 is all about how plants use color, shape, and scent to attract pollinators. Angela offers insight into the specific sexual strategies that your plants and flowers use for reporduction. Again, She will show you how to use what you've learned in your own garden.

Lesson 3 is all about the birds and the bees, and of course butterflies, wasps, moths, flies, beetles, ants, bats, wind, human pollinators and how they help your plants and flowers reproduce. Angela gives lot's of tips for attracting birds and butterflies and anything else you may want, or not want, in and around your garden.
