DDI's
philosophy is to create courses that are pedagogically sound, are
of high production value, and are highly interactive, thus giving
the end user a quality learning experience. We strive to exploit
the computer and Internet with regard to what they do best, i.e.,
provide compelling interactivity that engages the user and significantly
enhances the learning experience.
Your
courses will, at minimum, contain the following elements. Other
elements may be added as needed to support the online instruction.
- Welcome
Page - The Welcome page will feature a brief description of the
course.
-
Course Contents Page - This will contain the course description,
course objectives, materials of instruction, and other course
information. It will also contain a line-by-line display of hot-linked
section titles along with brief descriptions.
- Getting
Started Page - The Getting Started page will lead the first-time
user, step-by-step, through the process of accessing any required
online materials (e.g. plug-ins) prior to beginning the first
lesson.
- Modules
- Content will be broken into modules (defined below), linked
together and with the other course components. Each module will
be designed around active learning strategies and, as appropriate,
will utilize text, graphics, simulation, interactive multimedia,
audio, and video as instructional tools. In terms of content,
each lesson will contain objectives, learning content, a review
of key points, lesson questions/self tests, and assignments/projects
where appropriate.
- Course
Interaction - Communication tools will include email, list-serv,
threaded discussion, and chat capabilities where appropriate.
This provides users the opportunity to communicate between and
among themselves and the instructor, thus creating a community
of people with similar interests and values. The average time
to complete a lesson will be 30 minutes to 1 hour. When Students
register for the course, they will be provided access for a period
of of time that you determine.
